MIAMI — The Miami Marlins have signed former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder David Lough to a minor league contract, according to Baseball America.
Lough, 30, hit .239/.342/.313 in 30 games this season with the Phillies with three doubles, one triple, four RBIs, nine walks and eight strikeouts over 79 plate appearances.
The Akron, Ohio native's contract was purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on April 18 as the replacement to outfielder Cedric Hunter. Lough was later designated for assignment on June 2.
Over his five-year career, also playing for the Kansas City Royals (2012-13) and Baltimore Orioles (2014-15), Lough is batting .254/.300/.371 with 13 home runs and 67 RBIs through 342 games.
The Marlins currently trail the St. Louis Cardinals by 1 1/2 games for the second National League Wild Card spot.
