Mets Use Home Run Derby To Try To Fill Seats For Games No One Is Buying

Nobody wants to go to Mets games.  So, the New York Mets are trying to get them to go by making tickets up to 80% off.   In the past, the Mets have resorted to packaging tickets with an open bar to get fans extra drunk before the game with an additional beer after the game.

Now they are using one of the biggest frauds of a Home Run Derby in MLB history to get some butts in the seats of Citi Field.  Here is the deal:

Root for Mets All-Star David Wright in the Chevrolet Home Run Derby this Monday at 8 p.m. on ESPN and score big savings when the Mets play the Phillies July 19-21 at Citi Field.

The better David finishes, the greater percentage off tickets you’ll receive:

There’s no telling where David Wright finishes, but even if he comes in at 4th or 5th place, that’s a great savings for fans who want to go see the Mets play one of their division rivals, who by the way they are trying to catch in the standings.

I love the tie-in to the HR Derby as well as giving Met fans a great incentive to root hard for our captain in the HR Derby and to have a chance to get some great tickets at some great prices.

Since David Wright's 13 home runs are tied with Bryce Harper for the lowest in the whole derby, they may not have to give that great a discount, anyway.

Joke's on them: Some of us Phillies fans were going to come to the games anyway.  Now, we can get them cheaper than before and still outnumber Mets fans.  Thank you, Mets.
