For the second day in a row Michael Vick was among the quarterbacks on the field at Eagles practice. It is still expected that Nick Foles will start Sunday at Tampa Bay.
It remains to be seen if reports earlier this week that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick would be out on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were inaccurate, but at the very least they appear premature.
For the second day in a row Vick suited up with his Eagles teammates and took the practice field at the Novacare Complex even while nursing a left hamstring pull suffered Sunday against the Giants.
On Tuesday Vick admitted that he was only able to do some jogging and throwing and he was surprised that he was even able to do that in such short a turnaround from suffering the injury. He was singing a slightly different tune by the time Wednesday's practice concluded.
"I feel good," Vick told me while walking off the field shortly before his teammates followed suit.
According to the Eagles official post practice injury report Vick is listed as a limited participant for the second consecutive day.
While reporters are only permitted to watch the first 20 minutes of practice it's unknown exactly how much work Vick was able to get in. However, Vick said in the locker room afterwards that he was able to take part in seven-on-seven drills today, which he wasn't able to do Tuesday, and that his hamstring was beginning to "loosen up."
"I did the most that I could," Vick said. "I'm still tender in some spots, but I'll get treatment every day and work on it."
It's worth noting that Kelly once again listed Vick as day-to-day on Wednesday and said that his status had not changed. Meanwhile, Nick Foles took all of the first-team reps in practice for the second day in a row.
Rookie tight end Zach Ertz may have offered an unintentional hint on who will get the nod on Sunday if Vick's participation in practice, however limited, is a charade to get the Buccaneers to spend time preparing for both quarterbacks.
"The offense won't change at all with Nick Foles in the game," he said.
If Foles does get his first start of the season, it is almost fitting that it comes at Raymond James Stadium, the sight of his first career win on December 9th 2012.
"It was definitely special," Foles said Tuesday. "It was a tough season for everyone. It was coach [Andy] Reid's last year here, so it was nice to get that win for him. For me, it was my first and only one. It felt really good just to end the game like that."
