Well, earlier today we heard that Ken Giles could be headed to the majors. Turns out that this is true, but at a big price. Mike Adams, near dominant in recent outings, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right rotator cuff inflammation, according to a number of reports.
Adams figured to be a big trade chip during the trade deadline next month. The injury could mess that plan up. The move means that Justin De Fratus, fresh out of a stint in the minors, will likely see key innings from the right side. De Fratus pitched two scoreless innings Saturday.
Giles was serving as Lehigh Valley's closer. The Phillies could take their time putting Giles into key situations.
