Phillies IF/OF Michael Martinez was reinstated from the disabled list tonight and optioned to AAA Lehigh Valley. This means behind him on the depth chart was:
- Hector Luna
- Pete Orr
- Mike Fontenot
This makes me wonder: was it worth carrying Martinez all last year when he clearly is not better than the collection of AAA castoffs the Phillies accumulated this offseason.
Probably next to AAA when Jim Thome is activated on Friday: Pete Orr. Orr has seldom been used in recent days. Mike Fontenot's hot bat should keep him around.
