Another Oregon Duck has joined the Eagles' organization.
Thursday evening, Twitter user Greg Richards (@eaglesnut) brought attention to a newly-created front office position by the Philadelphia Eagles, Logistics Coordinator, of which is listed under their Football Operations staff on PhiladelphiaEagles.com.
This position was filled in February by a man named J.P. Crowley Hanlon. Crowley Hanlon's LinkedIn profile provides confirmation of his new employment under this position in the organization.
Doing further digging however, Richards discovered something even more fascinating when glancing further down on his employment history: From September of 2010 to June of 2014, Crowley Hanlon was employed as an assistant coach to the University of Oregon Football team.
This hiring of a Logistics Coordinator under the Football Operations staff occurred just weeks after Howie Roseman, once general manager of the organization, had his title changed to Vice President of Football Operations.
On Tuesday, franchise-leading rusher LeSean McCoy was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, who attended the University of Oregon from 2008 to 2012.
With it seeming as if Chip Kelly, who was the head coach of the Ducks from 2009-2012, desires to bring in anybody affiliated with Oregon, fans have joked on social media that the Philadelphia Eagles are slowly turning into the Philadelphia Ducks. The nickname "Oreagles" has also been given, as seen in the graphic below by Rob Tornoe of Philly.com and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
College Football 24/7's Mike Huguenin writes that the Eagles have 'nine Oregon alums on their roster', which is the most from any one school on a single NFL franchise.
While Kelly is known for his offensive acumen, five of the former Ducks on his roster are defenders: Alonso, fellow linebacker Casey Matthews and linemen Brandon Bair, Taylor Hart and Wade Keliikipi. All but Matthews have been acquired since Kelly became coach. The four former Ducks who play offense are running back Kenjon Barner and wide receivers Josh Huff, Jeff Maehl and Will Murphy. All became Eagles after Kelly became coach. Hart and Huff were drafted last year.
It's hard to imagine how far this trend will continue. Of course, acquiring Oregon Duck quarterback Marcus Mariota in this year's NFL Draft would be the biggest name of them all for Kelly's Eagles.
