Nick Swisher Has “Multiple Four-Year Offers”; Is One the Phillies?

Nick Swisher may be closer to deciding on his next destination and the Phillies are one of the teams interested in Swisher, reports Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News:

A day ago, Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston reported that the Red Sox are interested but would not go beyond three years for Swisher.

The Cleveland Indians reportedly have made a four year offer for Swisher's services.   But Jim Duquette of Sirius XM radio today said that Swisher has "multiple four-year offers".  Who would the second one come from?

One may be the Seattle Mariners.  Desperate for offense, the Mariners will likely overpay for whoever they can get to come to Seattle and play.  The Mariners were said to be interested in free agents Michael Bourn, Nick Swisher, and Josh Hamilton.

David Murphy of the Daily News has a new blog up about Nick Swisher, a candidate for a Phillies outfield vacancy.  He feels Swisher is a good fit:

Swisher is the perfect player for the Phillies right now. It would be awfully hard for them to get away with platoons in both left field and right field, because it would leave them thin on left-handed options on the bench when facing a right-handed starter. Swisher is a switch-hitter who is adept against both righties and lefties. He can play first base or right field. And he would slot perfectly into the three-hole, breaking up Chase Utley (two-hole) and Ryan Howard (clean-up), both of whom have struggled against lefties.

Murphy says, "don't be surprised" if Swisher signs with the Phillies.

Maybe one of those four-year offers is from the Phillies.  I really like Murphy's rationale and think he would be a nice piece.
