You probably had an idea that the Phillies would be short on postseason awards this year. But just maybe the Phillies could appear on an arbitrary "finalists" list where they throw some names out there of people who didn't win alongside the winner to hype people up before a real announcement. The Phillies were not even able to get that for this year's Rawlings Gold Glove awards.
Here are the National League "finalists" via CBS Sports:
National League
C - A.J. Ellis, Dodgers; Russell Martin, Pirates; Yadier Molina, Cardinals
1B - Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks; Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers; Anthony Rizzo, Cubs
2B - Darwin Barney, Cubs; Mark Ellis, Dodgers; Brandon Phillips, Reds
3B - Nolan Arenado, Rockies; Juan Uribe, Dodgers; David Wright, Mets
SS - Ian Desmond, Nationals; Andrelton Simmons, Braves; Troy Tulowitzki, Rockies
LF - Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies; Starling Marte, Pirates; Eric Young Jr., Mets
CF - Carlos Gomez, Brewers; Andrew McCutchen, Pirates; Denard Span, Nationals
RF - Jay Bruce, Reds; Jason Heyward, Braves; Gerardo Parra, Diamondbacks
P - Patrick Corbin, Diamondbacks; Zack Greinke, Dodgers; Adam Wainwright, Cardinals
CBS notes that they took "a sabermetric component" into account this year for the first time. Good thing Ruben Amaro Jr. will hire a stat-guy in 2014.
Jimmy Rollins won the last Phillies gold glove this past season. Ryan Lawrence of the Daily News notes that this is the first time since 2006 the Phillies will not have a gold glove winner.
