Major League Baseball released its third update to the 2016 MLB All-Star game voting Wednesday, and the picture wasn't especially kind to the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies' best hope for having a position player elected to this year's All-Star game is Odubel Herrera, though judging by the fact that he's not currently in the top 15, Herrera seems unlikely to get a chance to play in this year's game. He's certainly been better than Jason Heyward this year, but it's not surprising that the Cubs, who very well may play in the World Series this year, have gotten more votes for their outfielders than the Phillies. Herrera also just isn't as well known nationally as someone like Heyward or any of the numerous players lower on the list that he deserves to be above.
Fan voting, which is represented by this graphic, does not determine which pitchers make the All-Star game. That makes it more likely that the Phillies will have a pitcher as their All-Star representative, with players and managers combining to select which pitchers are on the team. Jeanmar Gomez, who is among the league-leaders in saves, seems like the most logical All-Star selection for the Phillies, though Aaron Nola, who has a 2.98 ERA, could also be selected. Whichever Phillies pitcher is selected seems likely to be the team's only All-Star, like Jonathan Papelbon was in 2015.
All-Star game voting will remain open until June 30. The game itself will take place on Tuesday, June 12, at Petco Park in San Diego.
