Despite being released by the Colorado Rockies at age 49, Jamie Moyer is unwilling to give up playing baseball. Today he signed a minor-league contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
He will report to AAA where he will join former Phillies J.C. Romero and Joel Pineiro, along with former big-leaguers Miguel Tejada, Bill Hall, Joel Pineiro, J.C. Romero, Lew Ford, Pat Neshek, and Brian Roberts. He will start Saturday.
Signing with the Orioles is surprising, as Moyer reportedly had a deal canceled this offseason by General Manager Dan Duquette, whom apparently had a spat with Moyer when both were part of the Boston Red Sox organization.
