Michael Bourn has finally landed….in Cleveland.
That's right. Bourn, 30, and the Indians have inked a contract that could lock him in a Tribe uni through 2017. Bourn will make approximately $12MM a year for four years with a vesting option that could make it a five-year, $60MM deal.
The two-time Gold Glover has waited a long while to find a home for 2013. After a long offseason of quietness and fictious signings, Bourn finally has a job. Bourn hit .274 with 9 home runs, 57 RBI, and 42 stolen bases last season with the Braves. From 2009-2011, Bourn led the NL in stolen bases.
Bourn joins the Indians, who signed OF Nick Swisher on December 23 and P Daisuke Matsusaka to a minor-league deal yesterday, in an effort to take back the American League Central.
The Phillies won't see Bourn as often as they did when he was in a Braves uni, but they will see him twice this season when the Indians come to town on May 14-15.
