The Eagles officially traded cornerback Byron Maxwell, linebacker Kiko Alonso, and the 13th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins for the 8th overall pick. After one of the more bizarre sagas in the NFL's 'legal tampering' world, the Eagles will move up five spots in the upcoming draft and rid themselves of a pair of players that, partially due to unreasonable expectations, underperformed in 2015.

The deal, which was reported earlier in the week, was seemingly in jeopardy early Wednesday morning after apparently complications with Maxwell's shoulder had Dolphins officials concerned over making the deal. After hours of speculation and several points where it seemed as if Miami may back out of the deal, the transaction has become official and Alonso and Maxwell are now members of the Dolphins.
As far as the Eagles are concerned, their new draft position opens up a whole new world of possibilities for their first round pick. When the dust settles from the open of free agency, we'll dive deeper into what some of these new options could mean when April 28th rolls around.
