The Phillies minor league system has had a lot going on this year. From the impressive pitching of Aaron Nola to J.P. Crawford's hot Double-A hitting to the emergence of Maikel Franco on the big league scene, there has been no shortage of news from the Phillies farm.
On Tuesday morning, the Phils promoted outfielder Aaron Altherr to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Ranked as the Phillies 23rd best prospect by MLB.com, Altherr saw some big league fill-in time during two games last season when the Phillies outfield depth took a hit. This season with Reading, Altherr is hitting .293 with a team-high 19 doubles to go along with 29 runs scored, three triples, six homers and 29 RBI's. He's struck out 40 times and walked 28. Altherr had stolen eight bases with Reading and posted an on-base plus slugging percentage of .851.
Drafted in the 9th round of the 2009 draft by the Phillies, the 24-year-old outfielder has a career .259 average in the minor leagues. He is one of eight outfielders on the Phillies 40-man roster.
