Even though former Eagle Josh Huff was found to have a gun in his passenger compartment shortly after leaving the NovaCare Complex on Tuesday, Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson rejects the theory that Huff violated league policy by bringing the gun onto the team’s premises.
With another divisional road test on the horizon, this time against the New York Giants, Pederson stepped to the podium on Friday morning to address questions one final time before Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium.
Instead of talking about Philly’s upcoming opponent, Pederson faced another flurry of questions regarding the team’s decision to cut ties with Huff, including whether or not he believes the wideout’s weapon was at the Eagles’ facility.
“I do not,” Pederson said. “And I have no evidence of that, so I’m just going by what I’m told.”
Obtaining concrete evidence of this infraction would be an arduous task, but the organization likely has enough resources to piece together whether or not the gun was at the NovaCare Complex.
Huff told #Eagles didn't have gun on team premises. Difficult to prove. But team has cameras, know time of departure/arrest. Defies logic.

One day before Huff’s release, Pederson told reporters that “as of now” the organization had no plans to discipline the former Oregon Duck. Today, Pederson was asked about his authority pertaining to off-field issues.
“My authority, obviously I’m in charge of the football team,” Pederson said. “The fact of the matter is, myself, Howie, Mr. Lurie, Don Smelonski, the four of us made this decision. We were all equally on board with this.”
“I left it very open, as to the point that we need to gather more information and go through the whole process first before these decisions are made on this football team. You never know. Everything is on an individual basis, until we get the information, until we go through our process the way we do with this one, then we’ll make a decision.”
Speedy receiver Bryce Treggs will be activated on Sunday to fill the void on offense, while Wendell Smallwood will become the full-time kick returner.
“Treggs will take a majority of [Huff’s snaps],” Pederson said. “He’s done a great job this week, so he’ll be ready to go. The rest of it will get divided. Darren [Sproles] [and] the tight ends become a little more important now.”
As for injuries, the first-year head coach ruled out starting right guard Allen Barbre (hamstring) and linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill (hamstring) for this weekend’s game in New York.
