Jay-Z, rap artist and now sports agent, performed tonight at Citizens Bank Park with Justin Timberlake. Along with the sports knowledge he acquired in his sports management business, Jay-Z seemed to be on top of what Charlie Manuel is saying on local radio shows. So, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel got a special shoutout at tonight's concert, reports attendee Cindy Webster on Twitter:
Jay Z just dedicated 99 Problems to Charlie Manuel. No joke.

Manuel quoted Jay-Z first (sorta – more later) a few weeks ago during a radio interview on 94-WIP. Manuel said (transcribed by Spike Eskin on CBSPhilly.com):
“Let me tell you something like this, I got 99 problems and a contract and managing next year, is not one of my problems."
But Manuel is old school, so maybe the line, "If you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son; I got 99 problems but a b—– ain't one" Manuel knows from the 1993 Ice-T album "Home Invasion". The line was originated by Ice-T, not Jay-Z, in Ice-T's song 99 Problems (please don't click unless you are okay with bad language). The lyric first occured at 1:02.
Nonetheless, poor Charlie has plenty of problems handed to him from his General Manager that aren't his fault. Jay-Z was kind to look out. Though, it didn't help that Jay-Z reportedly performed "Empire State of Mind", very much associated with the 2009 World Series champion New York Yankees.
