Peyton Manning Complains That The Eagles, After Historically Tough Schedule, Have it Easy

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning feels the Eagles have an unfair advantage.  What would that be?  12 days to prepare for the Broncos – Eagles matchup on this Sunday at 4:25 in Denver.  Ruben Frank of CSN Philly tweeted this quote from Manning implying that the Eagles will have an advantage on Sunday at kickoff:

Boo hoo.   The Eagles just played the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, September 19, just four days after facing the San Diego Chargers on September 15.  The Broncos last played on Monday night and have a six-day turnaround before their next game against the Eagles.

The Eagles are finally getting a chance to breathe.  The Eagles opened the season with three games in an astounding 11-day span, Frank wrote on CSNPhilly.com just a week ago.   That schedule is not just tough; it is the first time in history any team had to endure that schedule, Frank wrote:

The Eagles on Thursday night will become the first team in NFL history to open a season with three games in 11 days.

No team has ever opened a season on a Monday night and then played on Thursday night in Week 3. That’s what the NFL schedule makers have forced the Eagles to do when they face the Chiefs at the Linc Thursday night.

And Frank certainly heard from the players the toll that took on the team:

“Our bodies are beat up,” linebacker DeMeco Ryans said. “We’re still beat up from playing Sunday, but it’s no time to complain and gripe about it. You’ve got to strap it on and play ball Thursday night, and we’re looking forward to it.

So while Manning complains about the quick turnaround the Broncos face, his team sits at 3-0 and his team is a heavy favorite over the 1-2 Eagles, whose players are finally getting rest.
