The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that they have added rookie wide receiver Will Murphy to the team's practice squad.
Murphy signed with the Eagles after formerly playing under head coach Chip Kelly as a walk-on at the University of Oregon. After attending the team's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and later received an invite to training camp in July.
To make room for Murphy on the practice squad, the Eagles released fellow University of Oregon product defensive lineman Isaac Remington.
Remington played 25 games over two seasons for the Ducks under both Kelly and defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro. The Queen Creek, AZ native posted 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a defensive end for the Ducks.
Murphy caught 19 passes for 181 yards (9.5 YPC) and had his lone collegiate touchdown against Cal last season. The 23-year old was part of an 11 man roster cut down in August but was brought back on Monday after the offense sputtered against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.
It will be interesting to see if Murphy ultimately cracks a look on the active roster following returner Damaris Johnson's fumble in the first quarter Thursday night.
