Flyers vs. Sabres Preview: The Final Curtain

We have arrived at Game 82, the final game of the 2024-25 season. The Flyers have known for some time that this would be the final game of the season. That implies that there is no significance to this final game. And it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Flyers are in position to have the fourth-best, sixth-best, or seventh-best odds in the draft lottery, pending the result of Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

A regulation loss locks in the fourth-best odds. A regulation win locks in the seventh-best odds. If the game goes beyond regulation, the Flyers are locked into the sixth-best odds, regardless of whether they win or lose in overtime or a shootout.

Game time is 7 p.m.

Tyson Foerster can close the season by reaching the 25-goal mark with one goal. He has six goals in the last five games and eight goals in the last eight games.

Rasmus Dahlin had three straight multi-point games prior to Tuesday shutout loss to Toronto. Dahlin has put together an elite offensive season for a defenseman with 17 goals and 68 points.

Aleksei Kolosov gets the start for the Flyers. Kolosov made 24 saves on 29 shots in a win over the Rangers in his last start last Wednesday. It was Kolosov’s first win since Dec. 12. This will be Kolosov’s second NHL start since Jan. 2.

James Reimer gets the start for the Sabres. Reimer allowed seven goals on 31 shots in his last start, a loss to Tampa Bay. After winning seven straight starts from March 23 to April 8, Reimer has lost his last two starts.
