Flyers Postgame Report: Hurricanes Rout Flyers to Close Out Homestand

After snapping a five-game losing streak on Thursday, the Flyers seven-game homestand ended in a similar way as it began. The Carolina Hurricanes entered Saturday’s game on a six-game winning streak and kept it going strong.
Two goals in the first and two more in the second handed the Flyers a 5-0 loss to the Hurricanes at Wells Fargo Center.
Carolina opened the scoring at 8:21 of the first. Sebastian Aho was able to put home a rebound for his 25th goal of the season. The Flyers challenged for goalie interference and lost the challenge.
With 4:14 remaining in the first, the Hurricanes added to the lead as Mark Jankowski scored his seventh goal of the season.
Through 20 minutes, shots were 12-11 Flyers.
Just 19 seconds into the second, the Hurricanes made it a 3-0 game with a power-play goal by Taylor Hall.
The Hurricanes had a fourth goal pulled off the board on a successful offside challenge, but took the 4-0 lead anyway at 13:15 of the season on Jankowski’s second goal of the game.
Through two periods, shots were 22-22.
In the final minute of the third, Scott Morrow capped the scoring with his first NHL goal on a rebound.
Pyotr Kochetkov took care of all 26 shots faced in a shutout win. Sam Ersson made 26 saves on 31 shots in the loss.
Aho, Jankowski, Hall, Eric Robinson, and Shayne Gostisbehere each had two points.
The Flyers hit the road next, taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night at 7 p.m.
