Flyers Postgame Report: Fedotov, Flyers Hold Off Predators for 3rd Straight Win
When the Flyers returned home from a five-game road trip on a six-game losing streak, they made the decision to fire the head coach. Since then, a relaxed team has been feeling all of the effects, draft lottery odds be damned.
The winning under interim head coach Brad Shaw continued as the Flyers held on for a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Monday night, sweeping a three-game homestand.
The Flyers and Predators skated to a scoreless first period, with the Flyers holding an 8-7 lead in shots.
In the second, the Flyers were out-shot, 16-5, but managed to take the lead on the Predators.
At 8:50, the Flyers got on the board as Ryan Poehling finished off a nice passing play from Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny for his 11th goal of the season.
The Predators tied the game at 13:14 as Zachary L’Heureux finished off a backhander for his fifth goal of the season. But 34 seconds later, Jamie Drysdale picked up a rebound for his seventh goal of the season to put the Flyers back in front.
Through two periods, shots were 23-13 Nashville.
Shots were limited in the third, with the Predators holding the narrow edge, 6-5. Ivan Fedotov stood tall and the rest of his teammates helped block 20 shots as the Flyers emerged with the win.
Fedotov made 28 saves on 29 shots in the win. Justus Annunen made 16 saves on 18 shots in the loss.
Michkov and Konecny each had two assists for the Flyers.
The Flyers have four days off from game action before opening the final six games of the season on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m.
