Looking to extend their National League-best win streak to six games, the Philadelphia Phillies (63-48) and RHP Jake Arrieta will oppose RHP Zack Godley and the Arizona Diamondbacks (62-51) in the first of a three-game set Monday evening at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks currently trail the Phillies by two games for the second-best record in the National League.
The Phillies are coming off of a four-game sweep of the Miami Marlins, in which newly-acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera made his home debut in a Phillies uniform. Cabrera has homered in two straight games, including Sunday afternoon's two-run game winner in the eighth inning, his 20th of the season. Phillies All-Star starter Aaron Nola threw six frames in the Sunday Alumni Day finale, allowing a pair of runs and walks spanning 91 pitches and two strikeouts.
The Phillies have dropped two of three games against the Diamondbacks this season — outscored 19-11 — home on April 24-26. The club has dropped three straight series against their National League West foes, with the last victory coming in a three-game sweep at Chase Field, June 27-29, 2016.

Over his six outings prior — May 29 to June 26 — Arrieta went 1-4 with a 5.23 ERA and .292/.352/.485 opposing slash spanning 146 faced batters. Arrieta allowed just one run in seven innings in his most recent start on July 31 against the Major League Baseball-best Boston Red Sox.

Godley will make his second career start against the Phillies, with the first coming on June 17, 2017, in a 5 2/3-inning no-decision effort at Citizens Bank Park. In his most recent start, July 31 home against the Texas Rangers, the right-hander tossed seven scoreless frames while allowing just two hits and one walk on 10 strikeouts.

- With the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers both losing on Sunday, the Phillies pulled within one game of the top spot in the National League. The Atlanta Braves edged the New York Mets in extra innings, thus keeping the Phillies' division lead at 1 1/2 games. The Braves are off on Monday and will next play a three-day, four-game road set against the Washington Nationals.
- Phillies infielders Cabrera and Maikel Franco are combined 0-12 against Godley with one walk and four strikeouts.
