Phillies, Eflin Vie for 18th Series Win Opposite Marlins

By Matt Rappa, Sports Talk Philly editor

Following Pat Gillick and the late Roy Halladay's induction onto the Philadelphia Phillies' Wall of Fame, the club (61-48) and RHP Zach Eflin will take on RHP Jose Urena and the Miami Marlins (46-65) in the third of a four-game set Saturday evening at Citizens Bank Park.

Phillies Alumni Weekend kicked off to an exciting start on Friday, as the club celebrated the retirement of 2008 World Series champion Shane Victorino prior to its 5-1 victory. Starter Vince Velasquez tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out seven batters on 85 pitches and 66 strikes. Rhys Hoskins, Jorge Alfaro and Roman Quinn produced RBI base knocks in the third, seventh and eighth, respectively. Relievers Victor Arano and Pat Neshek recorded their eighth and third holds, while Seranthony Dominguez recorded the four-out save, his 12th. Newly-acquired southpaw Aaron Loup threw just two pitches in his Phillies debut, as he was quickly replaced after hitting Marlins first baseman Justin Bour.

The Phillies have 53 games remaining this season, 27 of which will be played at home. The club has the best home winning percentage in the National League (.667), and have won 10 of their last 12 games at Citizens Bank Park.
