"He was the best team leader that I've ever seen in a baseball clubhouse, and one of the nicest men I've ever met."
Those were the words of the late Harry Kalas about Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Famer Darren Daulton, who passed away Sunday after fighting cancer for the better part of the last half-decade. They also were the words that Dan Stephenson (perhaps better known as "Video Dan"), who is the long-time director of video services for Phillies, used to open a touching video tribute that the Phillies have issued to honor Daulton:
Teammate. Leader. Friend.
You will be greatly missed. #RIPDutch pic.twitter.com/YFlelnANIu

The video also features flashbacks to late-manager Jim Fregosi, ace Curt Schilling and closer Mitch Williams, all of whom were along for the ride with Daulton during the team's magical 1993 season.
Perhaps the most difficult parts of the video to get through come back-to-back halfway into the video, beginning with Daulton lifting up his daughter at Veterans Stadium. That moment then fades into to Daulton ripping off his mask to go celebrate after Williams threw the final pitch in the 1993 NLCS.
Stephenson also managed to unearth nearly 20-year-old clips of Daulton being honored at Veterans Stadium in 1998, shortly after his MLB career had ended. Daulton said the following while being cheered:
"I'm very flattered to be honored here tonight. I shared half [of] my life with the city of Philadelphia and the Phillies organization. And I've said that I came here a boy, and grew to be a man. Therefore, Philadelphia is in my heart and soul and I'll always bleed Phillie red."
Sure, the baseball world lost a special man Sunday. But if anyone needed to be reminded, over the past 24 hours they've gotten the message that the world lost a special man period in Dutch Daulton.
