Wednesday, Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Rhys Hoskins got bad news, as a CT scan revealed that he had a fracture in his jaw. Thursday, the 25-year-old got good news, at least relatively.
According to Phillies manager Gabe Kapler, Hoskins, who left the team in Los Angeles to visit a specialist in Philadelphia, will not require surgery on his injured jaw:
Rhys Hoskins will not require surgery to repair his fractured jaw. He will miss weeks, not months, Gabe Kapler said.

Hoskins was injured in the ninth inning of Monday night's loss to the Dodgers when he fouled a ball off of his face:

Despite the injury, Hoskins pinch hit in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers, lacing a double into left field. As Matt Gelb of The Athletic chronicled, Hoskins was told that he faced no additional risk in playing Tuesday night. Still, after the win, he had a precautionary CT scan. He told MLB.com's Todd Zolecki that the CT scan revealed what he believed to be a small fracture in his jaw. Given that the injury doesn't require surgery, that seems to have been the case.
The Phillies placed Hoskins, who was in the midst of the worst month of his short big league career, on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to May 30. Dylan Cozens, his fellow "Bash Brother," was called up to take his place.
