For fifth consecutive season, the Philadelphia Phillies aren't in the playoffs. The Phillie Phanatic, now reacclimated to what most October's in Philadelphia have been like over the past 20 years, has decided rather than sitting at home this fall and sulking, he's going make himself useful to the world in other ways.
We learned earlier this week that even the most beloved mascot in sports can get stuck doing regular (pretty awful) tasks like jury duty. Wednesday, we learned that the mascot can also use his power to do not-so-regular things like posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition:
It's not immediately clear how Phoebe Phanatic, the Phanatic's mother feels about her son posing for the magazine. It's unclear if Phred Phanatic, the Phanatic's cousin, is still a thing, but if he ever returns from the Galapagos Islands, he certainly may have something to say about this photoshoot as well.
Though a specific release date for the 2017 edition of the once relevant magazine hasn't been set, the magazine is normally released early in the year and juding off of the Phanatic's full video, he seems to have a pretty good chance to be featured.
