This transaction was completed yesterday, the same day catching prospect Tommy Joseph was placed on the disabled list as a precaution, considering his repetitive history with concussions.
Joseph was acquired on July 31, 2012 from the San Francisco Giants, along with outfielder Nate Schierholtz and right hander Seth Rosin, in exchange for All Star right fielder Hunter Pence.
The 23-year-old catcher native to Phoenix, Arizona had just nine hits in 73 at-bats over 20 games this season with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
Blake is the younger brother to Tampa Bay Rays' utility man Logan Forsythe, 28. He received a MiLB Gold Glove award in 2013 while with the Binghamton Mets (Double-A), and was named a Mid-Season All-Star with the St. Lucie Mets (Single-A) in 2012.
