In a trade that sends catcher Erik Kratz and Rob Rasmussen to Toronto, the Phillies have acquired pitcher Brad Lincoln. Lincoln has spent most of his career in Pittsburgh but was traded to Toronto in 2012. He split time between Toronto and Triple-A Buffalo last season putting up great numbers in Buffalo and so-so numbers in Toronto pitching to a 3.98 ERA in 31.2 innings and a 7.11 K/9.

Erik Kratz became expendable earlier in the evening when the Phillies signed Wil Nieves. Rob Rasmussen has a short stay in the organization after being picked up in August in the Michael Young trade.
