It was announced a short while ago that the Phillies signed veteran reliever Mike MacDougal. His numbers of late suggest he was strictly signed up to bolster the Iron Pigs bullpen in Lehigh Valley which is stocked kind of light seeing as most of them are in San Diego as major leaguers right now. MacDougal was known mostly as a nice bullpen arm for the esteemed Kansas City Royals teams of the early 2000s before he was shipped to the White Sox in 2006. Since then, he's been a journeyman posting some good seasons and some bad ones. The Reds sent him packing earlier in the month after he posted a pretty poor 5.49 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in Triple-A Louisville. I woudn't expect him to be in the major league picture but you never know at this point.
