The Phillies can cross one more arbitration-eligible player off of their list. The Phillies agreed to 2014 contract terms with left-handed reliever Antonio Bastardo today, reports MLBTraderumors.com. Bastardo will receive $2 million for his first arbitration year.
During the exchange of contract numbers, Bastardo requested $2.5 million while the Phillies offered $1.675 million. The two sides agreed at a figure just under the midpoint that was just under of $2.1 million.
Kudos to MLB Tradrumors' Matt Swartz who predicted that Bastardo would get $2 million in 2014. Now that Bastardo's case is settled, the Phillies only have to work out a 2014 contract with outfielder Ben Revere.
