The Philadelphia Phillies have avoided arbitration with RHP Jeanmar Gomez by agreeing to a one-year, $1.4 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Gomez, who turns 28 next month, was 2-3 with a 3.01 ERA and a 1.326 WHIP ratio over 65 games and 74 2/3 innings last season with the Phillies. The six-year veteran was named to the Opening Day roster, despite being a non-roster, spring training invitee.
Gomez was the third of four arbitration-eligible candidates for the Phillies this offseason, with the others being infielders Freddy Galvis and Andres Blanco, along with RHP Jeremy Hellickson. Galvis, 26, avoided arbitration yesterday by agreeing to a one-year, $2 million contract. Blanco, 31, signed to a one-year, $1.45 million deal on Dec. 2.
