It has been a few weeks since we heard that the Phillies and Chase Utley were close on a contract extension, leading some of us to wonder whatever happened to that. CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury reports that the Phillies and Utley now have a deal in place:
Source: Phils and Utley have a deal. Contract extended.

Salisbury did not report any details just yet, but it appears Utley is at least one contract closer to being a "Phillie for life" as Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. alluded to before.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports also reports the extension, with some insight to the cost and years:
The Phillies are close to signing Utley to a two-year extension with multiple vesting options, according to major-league sources. The total guaranteed money in the deal will be in the “high 20s,” one source said — between $25 million and $30 million.
Utley turns 35 in December.
