Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon earns sixth career All-Star nomination

Philadelphia Phillies' closer Jonathan Papelbon has been named to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, which will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

This will be Papelbon's sixth career All-Star game, his second as a Phillie.

In 32.2 innings on the mound this season, the 34-year-old right hander is a perfect 14-14 in save opportunities, having allowed just eight runs (six earned) to yield a 1.65 ERA.

Being named to the All-Star game will likely increase Papelbon's trade value and interest throughout the league as the July 31, non-waiver trade deadline fast approaches.

Rookie third baseman Maikel Franco was not named to the roster, nor any other Phillie, despite him batting .297/.345/.531 this season with 10 home runs and 34 runs-batted-in.
