Phillies Could Make 2-3 Deals in the Next 44 Hours; Domonic Brown Plays New Position
The 2012 Phillies have brought us plenty of excitement this year, mostly in the form of guest accordion appearances on the television broadcasts. Unfortunately, the excitement has not come from the team on the field, and now it is time to sell.
ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that teams the Phillies have been talking to believe that within the next (now) 44 hours, the Phillies could make 2-3 deals.
The greatest focus on trades have centered around the Phillies outfield: there have been rumors that Juan Pierre, Shane Victorino, and/or Hunter Pence could be traded by the 4:00 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline on Tuesday. Perhaps in anticipation of possible trades, Phillies (is he still?) prospect Domonic Brown spent time today in both center field and right field.
In today's double header at Lehigh Valley, Brown played game one in center and game two in right. Brown played a handful of games in center this season, though this would be his first game in right field. Should Pence and/or Victorino be traded, Brown most certainly would take the open spot.
The Phillies will not be playing between now and the trade deadline so Ruben Amaro Jr. has tonight, all day tomorrow, and during the day Tuesday to make a deal. The Phillies will play Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. We could see a whole new lineup then.
