After today’s game, against the Twins, the Phillies outrighted Kevin Frandsen and sent him to the Leigh Valley Iron Pigs. Kevin Frandsen has 72 hours to accept or reject. If he rejects the move, he will become a free agent.
Frandsen has played for the Phillies the last two seasons after playing for the Angels and Giants. In the two seasons with the Phillies, he became the primary right-handed bat off the bench. In 174 games, Frandsen hit seven homeruns, had 40 RBIs, and batted .286. Last year Frandsen only hit .234.
In his career, he has hit .259 with 14 homeruns and 93 RBIs primary as a back up player. And this spring he has hit .206 with six strikeouts and two RBIs in 17 games
Look for Hernandez to make the club to replace him on the bench. This opens up to have Galvis and Hernandez both on the bench once Galvis returns from MRSA. Hernandez this spring has hit .241 with a double and two RBIs in 17 games.
