So the Phillies finally made some acquisitions. Since Christmas is almost here and I have some money to burn, what better gift for myself or for my Phillies loved ones than to get a brand new jersey with one of the Phillies' new players.
So I went to Phillies.com shop to pick some up. However, they do not want to sell me anything.
My first quest was to find a Ben Revere jersey. I used the drop-down menu to select the player I wanted to order, but no luck. There is no Ben Revere to be found:
No Ben Revere! The good news, however, is that I am able to buy a #22 Nate Schierholtz jersey from them. I am sure that is just what any Phillies fan wants this Christmas.
After looking for Ben Revere and failing, I figured that if I want Michael Young, I'll have to put in a custom name and number. Most of his Rangers career, Young donned #10. Since Juan Pierre wore the number last season and has already signed with the Miami Marlins, Young's number is a slam dunk.
Or is it?
So a Michael Young #10 jersey is off limits. Essentially, the rules say that if a player is on another team, you may not order a jersey with that player's name on your team. So, for example, I could never buy a #43 R.A. Dickey Phillies jersey unless he was on the Phillies and wearing that number.
So maybe they aren't aware at Phillies.com that Michael Young is a Phillie. Oh wait – here he is:
What are the odds that he really wears #00? My guess is that it's not good. Shame for anyone who buys one.
Oh well, no Phillies Christmas shopping this year. I guess I will have to settle for buying an Andrew Bynum jersey instead.
