SARASOTA, FL — The Phillies headed to Sarasota to take on the Baltimore Orioles in Spring Training action on Monday. The Phillies, winners of two straight, had just came off of a walk-off victory over the Red Sox over the weekend.
With some players for both teams involved in the World Baseball Classic, both teams had to make do with what they had.
The Phillies got some scoring going early on to take a lead over the O's, but Baltimore had a strong middle of the game to break open the lead and come away with a victory over the Phillies.
The Phils got a runner on base in the ninth inning, but it was too little too late. The Phillies lose their first game in two games.
Besides getting roughed up in the fourth inning, Hellickson pitched a pretty decent game until that point. The surprising part of it all, was that the Phillies only used two other bullpen pitchers in the loss. All in all, it was a pretty good pitching day for the Phillies.
