Today the Phillies will face off against the New York Yankees split squad at Bright House Field. Yesterday, the Phillies faced the Orioles and took their third win of the spring. They were lead by triples from Domonic Brown, Ben Revere, Freddy Galvis, and Bobby Abreu.
Roberto Hernandez will take to the hill for the Phillies in his fourth start of the spring. Hernandez this spring has pitched very well and looks to be a lock in rotation. In three games he has a 3.24 ERA in 8.1 innings with seven strikeouts. Hernandez will look to increase his pitch count today as he prepares for the regular season.
The Yankees give the ball to Ivan Nova. This will also be Nova’s fourth start of the spring. This spring he is 1-0 with an 5.40 ERA in 8.1 innings pitched.
Game Notes:
· Mike Adams and Jonathan Pettibone both threw live BP yesterday and both felt good. Adams could see game action next week. Pettibone could see action before the end of the week
· Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez is experiencing shoulder soreness and is day to day. He was scheduled to pitch yesterday.
· Jimmy Rollins has not seen game action in the last three games and isn’t in the lineup today. Sandberg could be benching him. Galvis has been starting in his place.
