Back in 2006, people rooted for Ryan Howard to break the "clean" home run record. Howard ended up with 58 home runs en route to a National League MVP. But Howard's name may be tainted going forward. A new report suggests that the Phillies slugger partook in HGH.
Via the Huffington Post, the news outlet Al Jazeera released a preview to a documentary called "The Dark Side". In the film, British journalist Liam Collins links players such as Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and several other athletes to doping. His source is Charlie Sly, a pharmacist from Austin, Texas.
Washington Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman and Howard are the big name baseball players linked to the scandal. How credible Sly is is unclear at this time.
The report will air on Al-Jazeera on Sunday. When it comes forth, we will be sure to follow-up. While Manning's agent has refuted the validity of the report, no comment has come from Howard's agent.
