Gomez could be trade bait for a contender (Frank Klose/Philliedelphia)
We are less than two weeks out from the August 1 trade deadline (extended by a day since July 31 was a Sunday this year) and scouts are out looking at possible trade pieces. The Phillies, in their rebuilding year but with a few veterans on their roster, may have some items to trade. Relievers Jeanmar Gomez and David Hernandez are getting eyed by one contending team.
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the San Francisco Giants have their eyes on a pair of Phillies relievers:
#SFGiants are blanketing the reliever market. They have a top scout at #Phillies series monitoring Jeanmar Gomez and David Hernandez.

Crasnick adds that the Giants are also looking at relievers from the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees.
As luck would have it, the last two nights were not good nights for the Giants to be scouting Gomez and Hernandez. Gomez suffered his third blown save on Monday night, leading to an extra-inning loss to the Marlins. Hernandez surrendered a double and walked a batter on Tuesday night, taking the loss in the 10th inning.
