Phillies give ball to Nola looking to avoid being swept

By: Tim Kelly, Managing Editor

Detroit, MI – For the second consecutive series, the Philadelphia Phillies will look to avoid a sweep in the third game of the series, this time squaring off with Anibal Sanchez as the suddenly-hot Tigers look to win their ninth contest in their last 11 games.

After pounding out 12 hits in the series opening loss to the Detroit Tigers, the Phillies struggled against former MVP and Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander Tuesday, as they accumulated just three hits through the first seven innings in an eventual 3-1 loss.

Aaron Nola gets the ball for the Phillies in a Wednesday afternoon game today, as Nola looks for his fourth win of the season.
