Vince Velasquez gets the ball for this afternoon's chance at a sweep against the Giants. Velasquez is coming off a start at Turner Field where he pitched six inning of two run ball while striking out five. At the time many Phillies fans were starting to have panic attacks that Velasquez may be on the move to the Texas Rangers but nothing materialized.
On the Giants side Matt Moore makes his debut for the team following a trade with the Rays on Monday that sent Matt Duffy and prospects to Tampa Bay in exchange for the young southpaw. Moore stumbled out of the gate a bit this season but really settled down since June. He faced the Dodgers in his final start as a Ray on July 27 and pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one unearned run and earning his seventh win.
Pete Mackanin is going with a strictly right handed line up this afternoon, moving Aaron Altherr to center and Tyler Goeddel and Jimmy Paredes at the corners.
