PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Phillies have announced the hire of former YouTube Quantitative Analyst and Statistician Andy Galdi as their director of baseball research and development, according to a team press release.
Galdi, 30, will reportedly "oversee all baseball analytics, including data visualization and reporting, statistical research, and data infrastructure." He is the third member of the Phillies baseball operations staff to be added by the organization this offseason, joining general manager Matt Klentak on Oct. 28 and assistant general manager Ned Rice on Jan. 11.
Galdi's previous experience includes working with two Major League Baseball organizations, the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals, for 10 months as a baseball operations intern in 2009 and 11 months as a baseball operations analyst in 2012, respectively.

Galdi obtained his undergraduate degree in business administration and mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008, and his masters degree in statistics from Stanford University in 2013.
