Phillies hope to avoid 10th straight loss, fourth straight series sweep in Thursday matinee

Despite the three-run home run hit by shortstop Freddy Galvis late in last night's game sparking a rally, the Phillies still ended up on the losing end with a 6-4 final in favor of the Orioles.

This afternoon, in the series finale of a short, two-game set at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies will look to avoid being swept for the fourth consecutive time as they send right hander Sean O'Sullivan to the mound.

Starting Pitching Matchup:

Baltimore Orioles (34-31) Philadelphia Phillies (22-45)
RHP Bud Norris RHP Sean O'Sullivan
(2-4, 8.29 ERA) (1-5, 5.08 ERA)

Over eight starts and 38.0 innings pitched this season, Norris has allowed 50 hits, 35 earned runs, and 15 walks to yield a 8.29 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP ratio.

The 30-year-old right hander, who started out his career with the Houston Astros up until being dealt at the 2013 non-waiver trade deadline, is (1-3) with a 4.21 ERA in five starts against the Phillies.

O'Sullivan, 27, has struggled in his recent outings on the mound. Throwing 17.2 innings so far in the month of June, the right hander has surrendered 24 hits, 11 earned runs, and seven walks total.

Drafted in the third round of the 2005 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the San Diego, California-native has earned just one winning decision over his past 19 starts.
