Late in the off-season, I penned a piece suggesting that because Ryan Howard is well past his prime and doesn't have a hall of fame candidacy, it isn't especially important to figure out whether the Al-Jazeera America report, which alleged he used the performance enhancing drug Delta-2, is correct or not.
The MLB respectfully disagreed with my take.
Howard, who is recovering from being sick, isn't at camp today, as Jim Salisbury of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia says he is meeting with league investigators in response to the report.

The documentary in question was titled "The Dark Side", and pharmacist Charlie Sly suggested that he had helped Howard to use performance-enhancing drugs. Sly made a similar claim about Washington Nationals' infielder Ryan Zimmerman, who shares a lawyer with Howard. Howard and Zimmerman reportedly filed defamation suits on January 5th against the news outlet.
