Just under two weeks after opting out of his minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, eight-year veteran utility infielder Trevor Plouffe signed a similar deal with the Philadelphia Phillies Monday evening, according to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News.
Plouffe, 31, is slashing .242/.304/.410 through 823 career games and 3,222 plate appearances, with 155 doubles, 10 triples, 105 home runs, 376 RBI, 246 walks and 670 strikeouts. With the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate this season, Plouffe hit .273/.529/.636 through 17 plate appearances.
The West Hills, California, native was drafted 20th overall in the 2004 amateur draft out of high school and played seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins from 2010-2016.
