Phillies Interested in Scott Franzke’s Favorite Player and Phillie-Killer Scott Hairston

Scott-Hairston

In 2012 the Phillies never seemed to have any luck in getting Scott Hairston out.  Ever.  In fact, it led to Scott Franzke's profanity-laden tirade that you can hear here (finally one with the bad words beeped out, thanks to Albany, NY's 104.5 ESPN affiliate.

Hairston's numbers were insane against the Phillies in 2012:

  • .320 batting average
  • .370 on-base percentage
  • SIX home runs
  • Nine RBI
  • OPS of 1.130

That's in 50 at bats.  Not bad for a part-time players.

So, it should be surprise that the Phillies are interested in signing Hairston, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.  If nothing else, the Phillies would be assured that he can no longer dominate them.

Seriously though, he would be a really nice extra man.  He's a right-handed hitter who can play some center field.   He is not likely a candidate to be a starter, but he could certainly be the right-handed half of a plattoon with say, Domonic Brown.
