The Philadelphia Phillies officially introduced No. 3 overall pick, third baseman Alec Bohm — alongside Director of Amateur Scouting Johnny Almaraz — Tuesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.

"I'm very excited and just very grateful for the opportunity to be a Phillie. I'm ready to get going," said Bohm, who slashed .317/.393/.548 with 33 home runs, 77 walks and 125 RBI spanning three seasons and 166 games for Wichita State University. "I definitely heard [Citizens Bank Park] is a hitter-friendly park. … I like it."

Almaraz said Bohm, 21, will travel to Clearwater on Wednesday, when Director of Player Development "Joe Jordan and his staff will formulate a player development plan."

"We're probably looking at something maybe similar to our first-round pick last year, where [Bohm] spends a little time in GCL, gets some at-bats and then goes over to Williamsport … and hopefully finishes up in Lakewood," Almaraz said.

In his junior and final season at Wichita State, Bohm recorded a school-record three grand slams, a 12-game hitting streak from April 4-22, 24 multiple-hit games, 13 multiple-RBI games and two multiple-home run games. While Bohm is known for his power, he also has succeeded in the field, posting a collegiate career .923 fielding percentage on 33 errors. Bohm said he feels "very comfortable" at the hot corner.

"I've worked a lot at third base. That's where I want to play. But at the end of the day, I will play wherever they tell me to," Bohm said.

So far, the Phillies have signed 20 of their 38 selections from the 2018 amateur draft.
