Phillies Look for Roberto Hernandez to Play Stopper

Tonight, the Phillies start a three game series against the New York Mets. Coming off being swept in a four game home and home series against the Blue Jays, the Phillies will look to get back on track tonight as they send Roberto Hernandez to the rubber. Hernandez (2-1 4.50 ERA) is coming off his best start of the season against the Washington Nationals going 7.1 innings of no run ball leading to a 1-0 Phillies win. The Mets will counter with right-hander Jenrry Mejia (3-0 5.23). The key will be getting to Mejia early since he has only gone six innings or more in two of this six starts this season.

Game Notes:

  • Reid Brignac will replace Freddy Galvis on the bench. In AAA, Brignac hit .284 with five home runs and 23 runs in 30 games.
  • Shawn Camp was released after being out righted off the 40-man roster for Brignac to have a spot on the roster.
  • Ken Giles, Phillies relief prospect who has a 100mph fastball, has been promoted to AAA. In AA, Giles is 0-0 with 1.20 ERA in 15 innings.
