Laynce Nix catches a foul ball for an out.
Cliff Lee pitched well up until the 7th. He had
command of his pitches and walked one. Once again, the bullpen implodes and
starts giving up hits and walks.
Chase Utley started off the 4th inning with a walk. He moved
over to second after a wild pitch by McDonald. Domonic Brown doubles on a fly
ball misread by Andrew McCutchen for an RBI. 1-0, Phillies.
Top of the 5th, Cliff Lee outran McDonald and
Gabby Sanchez to get a single, then was called out stealing second. He returned
to the dugout with a standing ovation.
Gabby Sanchez homered off of Lee in the 6th. Lee
still looked good throughout the inning.
Frandsen drew a lead off walk in the bottom of the 6th.
Chase Utley singles, moves Frandsen to third. Utley steals second. Howard hits
a curveball to right field, Frandsen scores, 2-1 Phillies.
Pirates replace James McDonald, who had just five hits
during the game with Justin Wilson. Travis Snider was replaced for Tabata in
outfield.
Charlie substitutes John Mayberry Jr. for Laynce Nix. Utley
called out at home off a Mayberry single. Runners moved up from a wild pitch.
Mayberry hit a sacrifice fly and Howard scored. The inning ended with a pop up
from Carrera.
Cliff Lee had a rough 7th inning. He walked Marte
to start the inning. McCutchen singles, loading up first and second. Marte
comes in to score off a hit from Sanchez to center. McKenry hits a line drive
to center, McCutchen scored. Game tied, 3-3. Pedro Alverez pops up to end the
inning.
Aumont is brought in for relief of Cliff Lee. He hits Clint
Barmes. Aumont worked himself into a tough situation when Marte hits a single
to load the bases with one out. Garrett Jones is brought in for Igne, who hits
a two run double. 5-3 Pittsburgh.
Chad Durbin comes into the ballgame for Aumont and walks
McCutchen. Marte scores on a Sanchez fly ball. 6-3, Pittsburgh. Pirates left
the bases loaded, but still did major damage during this inning.
Howard gets an RBI by bringing in Frandsen. 6-4, Pittsburgh.
Valdes comes in for Durbin. Charlie Manuel gets ejected for
the first time this year arguing on a blown interference call at home.
Brown hits a double in the bottom on the 9th but
is stranded.
This ends a bad homestand. They lose the series, and fall to
9-13. Once again, the bullpen fails.
