Selected in the 23rd round of the 2013 First Round Player Draft, Phillies minor league pitcher Christopher O'Hare (0-1, 3.60 ERA) has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for a drug of abuse. This is the result of a second positive test.
O'Hare, 22, was drafted by the Phillies out of Fisher college in Boston and appeared in just five games last season between rookie ball, Clearwater and Lakewood. He allowed five hits and two runs in five innings, walking two and striking out six.
Originally an attendee of Yale, where he went 8-6 and had an ERA of 4.49 over three seasons, O'Hare transfered to NAIA Fisher in Boston for his senior season. In his final college season, he went 9-1 with a 0.86 ERA and set a school record with 110 strikeouts.
O'Hare was slated to start the 2014 season in Lakewood. Instead, he will have to wait 50 games to do so.
